English movies in Cologne

Updated September 2026

Looking for films in English in Cologne? You no longer need to open one cinema website after another to hunt for the few undubbed sessions. English Cinema Cologne gathers the English-language screenings from cinemas across the city onto a single page, and the listings are updated daily.

Start here: what is showing in English right now. That page is the whole point of this site, so you can skip the weekly chore of checking each cinema's schedule yourself.

Why is this easier than checking each cinema?

In Cologne, most big releases play in a German-dubbed version. English-language showings are the exception, scattered across different cinemas and different days, which is why the old advice was to visit every cinema's site and dig. We do that digging and put the results in one place, so you can just look once.

We don't claim to catch every screening in the city, but we pull together the English-language sessions we can find across the cinemas we cover.

What do OV and OmU mean?

German cinemas use short labels to tell you a film is not dubbed:

If a screening is marked OV or OmU for an English-language film, you will hear it in English. English Cinema Cologne only includes screenings with English audio. English subtitles alone do not qualify: OmeU can mean another original language with English subtitles. When using a cinema’s own broader programme or booking site, check the audio and subtitle languages.

Which cinemas in Cologne show films in English?

Here are the cinemas we track. Each links to its own page, where you can see its current English-language listings.

For classics and special film series alongside new releases, Lichtspiele Kalk’s official programme is worth a look. The cinema distinguishes English originals from non-English films with English subtitles; our Lichtspiele Kalk listings bring together its English-audio screenings.

How do I keep up without checking every week?

Because programmes change constantly, the surest approach is to check today’s English screenings when you want to go out, or browse the films page for later dates. If you would rather have it come to you, subscribe to the weekly newsletter and get the English-language screenings in your inbox.
